Our client in Addo is seeking a Biological Co-Ordinator to join their team! This role is pivotal for the production process, ensuring the health, stability and optimization of the insect cultures essential for baculovirus production. You will coordinate the biological production team to maintain high-quality larvae suppliers, collaborate with R&D on trials, and drive continuous improvements that keep the production efficient and reliable. Responsibilities: Culture Management: Coordinate and manage the mass rearing of insect cultures to ensure continuous baculovirus production and culture longevity. Quality & Health Monitoring: Maintain healthy, stable cultures across all life stages. You will monitor environmental conditions and biological performance, taking swift corrective and preventative actions when necessary. Operational Supply: Supply the virus production team with the precise species and life stages required to meet raw virus production targets. Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate measurements and records to track culture health, quality metrics, and losses, ensuring full transparency in reporting. Compliance & Hygiene: Implement and uphold best practices aligned with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), hygiene protocols, risk control, and traceability. Leadership & Development: Oversee and support the biological production team, providing the training and biological insight needed for effective task execution. R&D Collaboration: Partner with the R&D team on commercial trials and rearing optimization. You will plan, execute, and evaluate trial work, integrating successful outcomes into routine production. Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance culture consistency, reduce biological losses, and optimize yields. Strategic Planning: Support weekly production planning by reviewing capacity, resource inputs, and culture readiness. Requirements A Degree or Diploma in Biological Sciences, Entomology, Microbiology, Biotechnology or related. 2+ years experience in Insect Rearing, Biological Production, Laboratory or Research Environments. Prior Supervisory experience. Strong Excel capabilities (VlookUps, Pivot Tables etc.) Must have a Valid Drivers License.
