Gift Shop Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Erlanger Auxiliary Gift Shop is on the Baroness Campus of Erlanger Health System. It is owned by the Erlanger Auxiliary and is operated by Erlanger volunteers. The Gift Shop is one of the Auxiliary's largest fundraisers.

The Gift Shop Supervisor will report to the Director of Volunteer Services, and will work with the Auxiliary Board of Directors under the leadership of the President.

The Gift Shop Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation, including all financial and staff management.

Duties include:
- Performing and overseeing computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management.
- Supervising a team of volunteers, as well as paid Auxiliary staff members. This includes hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of operating budgets, policies, and procedures consistent with those of the organization.
- Selecting and purchasing appropriate merchandise, including seasonal and everyday items, that is of high interest to hospital guests, visitors, and staff.
- Providing sales coordination and problem resolution for floor customer service staff; performs direct sales and customer service as and when required.
- Managing the schedules of the paid staff members, as well as the schedules of the volunteers.
- Monitoring of sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit, and prepares sales reports.
- Ensuring that all deposits are made daily upon closeout and that payroll deduction reports are submitted on time.
- Coordinating ordering, receipt, and return of merchandise and/or equipment; verifies invoices and billing and resolves errors and discrepancies; as appropriate.
- Overseeing area stock and visual merchandising; ensuring that all areas, including the sales floors and all storage areas, are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Monitoring general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; ensures that equipment and facilities remain in good repair, and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained.
- Compiling and submitting reports monthly, or when requested, for Auxiliary Board review.
- Exhibiting strong customer service skills through building and nurturing relationships with hospital guests, hospital employees and volunteers.
- Ensuring that the importance of a culture consistent with high quality customer service is a priority and is communicated to employees and to hospital volunteers.
- All other duties as assigned.
The Gift Shop Supervisor should have a proven track record of both excellent customer service skills and fiscal responsibility and management. Must work well with volunteers.

Education:
Required:
- Associate's Degree and/or equivalent experience.

Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree, with concentration in Business, preferred, and/or equivalent experience.

Experience:
Required:
- A minimum of three years' experience in retail, with a minimum of one year in a leadership role.

- Management experience.

Department Position Summary:
The Gift Shop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Erlanger Auxiliary Gift Shop. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of a paid employee and a team of volunteers; the selection and buying of inventory; financial management, including making sure invoices, payroll deduction spreadsheets, and deposits are submitted on time; the appearance of the store and the office and storage areas, making sure it is neat in appearance, organized, and is safe for all employees, volunteers, and customers.
