Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biological Anthropology, starting in Fall 2027. We seek an outstanding scholar whose research and teaching bridge evolutionary anthropology, comparative anatomy, and biomechanics to address fundamental questions about human evolution, development, and health, drawing on evidence from both fossil and extant populations. The successful candidate will have expertise in comparative anatomy and functional morphology and a research program investigating the evolutionary and developmental origins of human biological variation and their implications for modern human health.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates who employ virtual anthropology in their research and teaching, including the development and application of innovative imaging, computational, and quantitative methods to investigate morphology, function, and variation. We welcome candidates who integrate computational techniques into their research, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, and big data analytics, all aimed at addressing complex questions related to human evolution and health. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D., post-doctoral research experience, a record of research productivity, and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.
