→ Review prescription and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment
→ Determine suitable treatment administration and modifications that may be needed, compatible with physician orders
→ Set up and operate devices including mechanical ventilators, nebulizers, and/or compressors
→ Operate equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, oxygen concentration, and/or temperature
→ Monitor patient response to therapy via vital sign and blood chemistry changes
→ Observe equipment function and adjust equipment to obtain optimal results
→ Consult with physician in event of adverse reaction
→ Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently
→ Order repairs when needed
→ Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees
→ Perform staff education at customer facilities
→ Perform tracheostomy tube changes
