About the Role
~2 min readFandom is growing! We are looking for a Software Engineer II (backend, PHP) to join our Wiki Platform team. This position is based in Poznań, but can work remotely from anywhere in Poland. You will report to our Director of Engineering.
You will get to create engaging user experiences used by 350 million fans who generate 4 billion page events monthly. You will work with our cross-functional teams to plan, design, and build scalable web applications and experiences.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving Fandom’s wiki platform running on PHP 8.3 and MediaWiki supported by more than 100 microservices written in Java & GoLang. As a Software Engineer II, you will be expected to take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of the task and features you work on, from initial development through to post-release maintenance. You write code that is maintainable and forward-thinking, and you produce code that minimises complexity and over-engineering. You are an effective collaborator on your team, being an active and valued participant in all of your team’s development processes and meetings.
You will also have an opportunity to proactively identify critical systems that need to change, architectural problems that need to be addressed, and features that need to be built to deliver upcoming projects.
