Maintenance Engineer at Warren Street Hotel

Maintain the entire hotel, including the physical structure, furniture and furnishings, mechanical, HVAC, and related equipment, ensuring Firmdale's exceptional standards and attention to detail in guest rooms and throughout the hotel.

• →Resolve repair issues in guest rooms and suites, including lamps, switches, faucets, sinks, furniture, wallpaper, carpet, and tile
• →Respond to guest requests for minor repairs and maintenance assistance
• →Promptly respond to and update information in HOTSOS software
• →Complete and document total room preventive maintenance rotation, keeping proper records and ensuring Firmdale SOPs
• →Perform routine maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment and machinery
• →Check Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms in guest rooms, lobby, meeting spaces, public areas, and the back of the house on a regular schedule
• →Change filters and perform minor HVAC repairs
• →Repair and maintain equipment, including vacuum and floor cleaning machines
• →Regularly work independently without close supervision
• →Be knowledgeable and able to follow hotel emergency and fire safety procedures
• →Understand the Do Not Disturb (DND) procedure
• →Be highly attentive to small details
• →Work as part of a team, assisting others when requested
• →Practice good communication with the Chief Engineer, Supervisor, and all other members of the Hotel Management Team
• →Consistently demonstrate Firmdale standards of customer service
• →Be knowledgeable of hotel fire and emergency procedures
• →Adhere to all safety protocols and always maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment
• →Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
• →Have thorough knowledge of the hotel and the company

• →Carry out any other reasonable duty to assist in the smooth running of the company

• Be able to stand and walk between locations for a complete 8-hour shift, 5 days a week
• Ability to bend, twist, push, and pull furniture and equipment
• Kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing are required
• Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
• Ability to communicate both written and verbal and use systems to document activities
• Available to work a flexible schedule that can include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

• 2+ years of experience in a building maintenance engineering role, preferably in a 5-star hotel
• Demonstrated work experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance. HVAC experience is preferred
• Certification in above trades, completion of seminar for specialized training such as Fire Safety Director, FDNY COF’s for Sprinkler & Standpipe, back-up generator preferred
• Knowledge of HOTSOS preferred 
• Excellent problem-solving with the ability to diagnose issues and identify effective solutions
• Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints is preferred
