Quality Technician

Summary/Objective  Position facilitates the day-to-day quality activities within Niantic Seal.  Responsibilities related to test and inspection of products, raw material, and equipment, handling of nonconforming material concerns, quality problem resolution, and the occasional sorting of key products for determination of quality characteristics as required, in support of customer requirements.  This person may interface with other internal functions, suppliers, and customers, with the goal of assuring quality of product and process, increasing customer satisfaction, and improving profitability by contributing to continual improvement.   Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Duties/Responsibilities:    **Training will be offered to candidates that meet basic, key requirements of the position but may have limited experience in others.   Interprets customer and internal specifications, drawings, work instructions, procedures, and standards, as required to determine quality requirements. Inspects supplier provided components and internally assembled product (Rubber, plastic sealing components) Qualifies products and processes for a variety of variable and attributive characteristics and qualities, such as dimensions using measuring devices, and sampling plans to test at specified stages including incoming product, production processes, and final inspection. Records test data, applying detail-oriented procedures, formats, and software, and evaluates and reports upon data. Performs First Article Inspections (FAI) Prepares outgoing customer certifications Generates, monitors, and closes, raw material, in-process, and final inspection Nonconforming Material Reports Provides input and support to internal personnel on product specification and / or customer expectations.   Competencies Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Use all basic hand measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, steel scale, part weighing scales, etc. Experience using and programming CMMs for inspection purposes. Strong attention to details and a desire to learn required. Able to work with a team environment. Strong work ethic with ability to work under minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with engineering, technical support, sales, management, and customers. Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines. Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment Ability to work with little to no supervision.   Work Environment                This job operates in a warehouse/shop environment. This role routinely uses hand measurement tools as well as office equipment such as laptop computers, printers, scanners.   Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and lift.  Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, on occasion.   Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.    Required Education and Experience High School or technical school diploma or GED, and one to five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) a plus.
