Galvion designs, develops, and manufactures ballistic helmets, dynamic power and data management and optical solutions for the modern battlefield. PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES 

 

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement activities to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality supply of goods and services in support of Galvion’s global operations in the THS and PDS-AC divisions. This role oversees supplier relationships and purchasing processes while driving continuous improvement, risk mitigation, cost reduction and alignment with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP). The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates strong leadership, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Process & Planning 

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and cost targets  
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers globally  
  • Lead contract negotiations, including pricing, lead times, MOQs, and service levels  
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and performance management frameworks (KPIs, scorecards, audits)  
  • Drive supplier consolidation and risk mitigation strategies (dual sourcing, end-of-life management, last-time-buy planning) 
  • Review and approval of purchase order  

 

Procurement Operations 

  • Oversee daily purchasing activities to ensure on-time delivery and continuity of supply  
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in purchase order management within ERP systems  
  • Optimize procurement processes, including indirect and direct spend management  
  • Implement and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and compliance standards  
  • Manage purchasing for both production and indirect (OPEX) categories 

 

Cost Management & Value Creation 

  • Lead cost reduction initiatives (negotiation, should-cost analysis, design-to-cost)  
  • Monitor market trends (commodities, logistics, inflation) and proactively adjust strategies  
  • Partner with Finance to track cost savings, PPV, and budget adherence  
  • Challenge supplier pricing structures, including surcharges (e.g., oil, freight, raw materials) 


 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams  
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) with sourcing strategies and supplier readiness  
  • Align purchasing plans with S&OP forecasts and demand planning  
  • Contribute to inventory optimization and working capital reduction initiatives 

 

Risk Management & Compliance 

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (capacity, geopolitical, financial, quality)  
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, incoterms, and customs requirements  
  • Support quality initiatives including supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement  
  • Develop contingency plans for critical components and suppliers 

 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team (buyers, analysts, etc.)  
  • Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations  
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement  
  • Drive adoption of tools, systems, and best practices 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.  
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, or global supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.  
  • Experience in the electronics industry and working with contract manufacturers.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading global and multi-site teams.  
  • Strong expertise in negotiation, supplier management, and demand/supply balancing.  
  • Hands-on proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Infor SyteLine or similar systems.  
  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI) and translating engineering requirements into executable capacity plans.  
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to transform data into actionable business recommendations.  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.  
  • Proven project management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment while managing competing priorities.  
  • Customer-focused, proactive, collaborative, and results-driven mindset.  
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the United States locations and Canada as required. 

 

Work environment  

  • Office base and manufacturing environment. 
  • 30% travel between Galvion facilities and our Vendors.
