GEMS is trusted by government ministries, conservation authorities, and City Hall. Our track record includes scientific data collection, wetland classification, impact statements, and wildlife relocation, land development, and building construction. We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Monitoring team in Concord, ON!

Key Responsibilities: 

1.      Own End-to-End Project Delivery

  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to GEMS’ quality standards, ensuring all obligations are met under the GEMS Way proven process.
  • Translate client goals and environmental obligations into executable scopes aligned with standardized workflows.

2.      Client Relationship & Communication

  • Serve as the primary client contact from award to closeout, maintaining proactive communication, transparency, and trust.
  • Uphold GEMS’ 4-hour response commitment, acknowledge and respond to all client inquiries within four hours.

3.      Financial Management & Accountability

  • Own project P&L, tracking budgets, change orders, invoicing, and accounts receivable in coordination with Finance and Operations.
  • Ensure target gross margin is achieved through disciplined scope management and proactive risk identification.

4.      Team Coordination & Leadership

  • Lead and align all internal delivery partners; Operations Leads, SMEs, Analysts, and Coordinators—to achieve efficient, standardized execution.
  • Drive accountability through clear expectations, communication, and coordination across departments.

5.      Scope Control & Risk Management

  • Identify and escalate risks, delays, or resource constraints early to the Program Manager or Director.
  • Manage scope changes through formal documentation and communication with clients and internal teams.

6.      Quality & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory standards, GEMS’ two-signature QA/QC policy, and SOPs.
  • Promote and model a strong Health & Safety culture, maintaining required training and certifications.

7.      Reporting & Documentation

  • Oversee preparation and delivery of reports, data dashboards, and regulatory submissions using standardized templates and digital systems.
  • Ensure accurate field-to-office handoffs and documentation within GEMS’ project management
  • systems.

8.      Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Program Managers, Operations, and Sales to ensure seamless client experience, pipeline visibility, and efficient resource allocation.
  • Support proposal development and continuous improvement of scoping and estimating practices.

9.      System & Process Discipline

  • Utilize GEMS’ digital project management tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication to
  • ensure data integrity and visibility.
  • Contribute to the evolution of standardized workflows and participate in system improvement initiatives.

10.    Professional & Cultural Leadership

  • Mentor junior staff, share lessons learned, and help cultivate a values-driven, performance-based culture.

11. Any other reasonable activity required by management/leadership.


Education & Experience

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma (Instrumentation Technology, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or equivalent)
  • Relevant field work experience in construction, civil/mechanical engineering, water/wastewater technology, environmental technology or related fields.
  • Effective trouble-shooting skills resolving technical issues
  • Organized and self-motivated individual with initiative and attention to
  • Outgoing, friendly, team-player
  • Tech-savvy with strong problem-solving
  • Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work
  • Valid driver’s license and Confined Space Entry
  • Additional related certifications are an asset
  • Understanding of AutoCAD is an asset
