Maintenance Technician I

Employee will work independently and as a team to maintain the Aquarium and Animal Care Facility (ACF). This includes front of house and back of house areas to insure a great experience for our guests and our coworkers.

1. →Assist technician(s) in support and labor for the following disciplines: HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), machinery repair, and carpentry; also, painting, and general fabrication.
2. →Reviews and becomes familiar with the drawings and technical aspects of all systems within the Aquarium.
3. →Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance records as required and generates necessary reports, including budget requests and purchase order justifications.
4. →Assists in the continuing development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program for all facilities and life support equipment in the Aquarium.
5. →To perform other duties as necessary

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. At least 1 years’ maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
3. Requires a working knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety requirements for the work being performed.
4. Ability to paint, assist in installation of all plumbing and pumping systems using PVC, CPVC, polyethylene, FRP, copper and black iron pipe.
5. Ability to assist in fabrication of structures and equipment as required using wood, fiberglass (FRP), glass, acrylic and related materials.
6. Average computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
7. Above average ability to organize, manage time and set priorities while meeting deadlines.
8. Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements.
