We’re looking for Registered Nurses to care for our passengers and crew by providing and maintaining high standards of individualized patient care. Job Description • Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care. • Providing routine and emergency nursing care for all passengers and crew. • Assess patients as first medical responder to emergency calls on board. • Provide ongoing care for patients admitted to the medical centre. In-patient care encompasses the management of a wide variety of clinical problems including cardiac disease (thrombolysis and cardiac monitoring), trauma, orthopaedic problems and acute medical and surgical emergencies. • Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians. • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients. • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patient’s charts. • Adjust and administer patient’s medication(s) and provide treatments according to the physician’s orders. • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitising surfaces, preparing beds etc.). • Assist surgeons during operations. • Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families. Key Responsibility Areas • Responsible to take over the DRUG LIST from the safe box , with an accurate count. • Responsible to be familiar with all medical equipment on board and Medical equipment management program. • Responsible to make a detailed check and count of medications inside of the medical centre. • Responsible to be familiar with all ISM forms used on board. • Responsible to follow the on board rules and regulations of the company • Responsible to participate in all drills • Responsible to keep in good condition the medical centre files for passengers and crew. Working Conditions: Teams vary in size from one doctor and two nursing officers, to two doctors and five nursing officers depending on the size of the vessel and its itinerary. The ships' medical centres consist of several inpatient beds; including at least one critical care room; 1 or 2 consulting rooms, X-Ray room, emergency room, treatment room, laboratory and dispensary. They are equipped with a high standard of medical equipment, including defibrillators, external pacemakers, ECG machines, mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitoring systems and infusion pumps. The dispensaries are stocked with a comprehensive range of medications including thrombolytics. Ships are also equipped with a variety of wheelchairs, stretchers, spine board and immobilization devices to assist in the management and transfer of sick and injured patients. Requirements Minimum Education Requirements: • Nursing Bachelor Degree (4600 hrs of practical and theoretical training) • Nursing license to practice. • Valid BLS- ACLS/ PALS Previous Experience: Minimum 3 years in hospital experience in or more of: ER, Cardiology, ICU, Internal Medicine, Trauma, OR Ideal experience: Over 3 years in hospital experience in one or more of: ER, Cardiology, ICU, Internal Medicine, Trauma, OR Sea-going vessels/ platform experience Personality Traits: • Critical thinking • Technical expertise • Written and oral communication • Interpersonal skills • Teamwork • Time management and organisation • Knowledge of maritime safety regulations • Knowledge of maritime law Competency/ Certificate Requirements Minimum: MS Office Suite, Computer-literate Ideal: STCW certificates • Personal Survival Techniques STCW - Ref. A-VI/1-1. • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting - STCW Ref. A-VI/1-2. • Elementary First Aid - STCW Ref. A-VI/1-3. • Personal, safety and social responsibilities STCW A-VI/1-4; • Crowd Management Ref. A – V/2 Par 1-3 or A – V/3 Par 1-3. • Security Awareness Ref.
