What does it mean to be a Consumer Regulatory Specialist I at GLS?
The Regulatory Specialist I is responsible for providing support to the company’s Legal Department through a variety of legal and compliance related activities including, but not limited to licensure for the Company and related entities, regulatory and external examination and diligence requests, and consistent monitoring and reporting.
Complete and submit licensing applications, renewals, notifications, and regulatory reporting for the company and its Special Purpose Entities (SPE)
Support the Senior Manager in implementing state licensing requirements and ensuring accurate, timely filings, escalating complex issues to management as needed
Investigate and compile responses to regulatory examiners; monitor the status of all regulatory examinations and all other requests received from regulatory agencies or other third-party requests.
Suggest improvements to licensing and external examination processes
Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into licensing status for stakeholders. Leverage internal dashboards to independently access needed information and provide consistent reporting
Track and resolve findings from regulatory examinations. Document remediation steps, enter updates into change management records, and monitor associated controls to ensure issues are effectively and timely addressed.
Develop and maintain response library to ensure consistent and accurate, up-to-date responses for routine regulatory compliance requests
Establish Conduct routine communication with state regulators and third parties auditing GLS, escalating complex issues to Senior Manager as needed.
Monitor federal and state licensing and reporting changes and maintain the master license tracker with any applicable updates.
Support the Senior Manager in assessing impacts, recommending actions, and implementing compliance.
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to complete other compliance-related activities, documents the results, and provide appropriate resolutions and remediations
Maintain electronic records and files that support work performed, results, and outcomes
Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
Perform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a related field preferred
Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
