Job Summary/Description:

WAND News is looking for a take-charge Assignment Editor to help manage the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. This person needs excellent news judgment, an understanding of newsroom logistics, and the ability to organize and prioritize news content for multiple platforms. The standout candidate is a news hound and works sources and contacts daily to get information into the newsroom and out to the audience.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Set the standard for daily news coverage plans, including gathering information from a variety of sources, including scanners, emails, social media, phone calls, viewer tips, and more.
- Lead daily editorial meetings by sharing possible coverage items, pitching stories, and helping teams collaborate on the best coverage for our audience
- Prioritize news coverage on all platforms, including assigning crews to stories and news items
- Lead teams for breaking news coverage on all platforms
- Must be able to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple tasks regularly

Qualifications/Requirements:

- 2 years' experience in a TV newsroom required (experience as a reporter, producer, or digital specialist is also acceptable)
- Journalism or relevant degree preferred
