Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance. Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance. Service, repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive equipment such as container truck lifts, reach stacker, front end loaders, cranes and other special purpose types of equipment. Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment. Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs. Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests;Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to perform equipment repair, inspection and preventive maintenance, identifying worn and damaged parts. Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications. Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms. Maintain a schedule for preventative maintenance on all equipment providing for lubrication, replacement of tires and tune ups. Performing major repair work when necessary. Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to perform equipment repair, inspection and preventive maintenance. Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus). Minimum 3 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel equipment, or equivalent. Understanding of computer testing technologies. Welding experience (a plus). Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Ability to work after-hours if required. Manual dexterity. Ability to lift heavy machinery.
