EngineeringDevops Engineer

At Wellhub we're revolutionizing workplace wellness. Our platform connects employees worldwide to the best partners for fitness, mindfulness, therapy, nutrition, and sleep—all in one simple subscription. Headquartered in NYC with team members in Europe, North America and South America, we’re on a mission to make every company a wellness company.

We believe work should be fulfilling, inspiring, and balanced. Here, you’ll find a team that values wellbeing, collaboration, and different perspectives, where passion and creativity push boundaries to create real impact. Your contributions will help shape a healthier, more balanced world for you and millions of people globally.

We are hiring a Staff Platform Engineer with a dedicated focus on our Observability ecosystem for our Platform area in Brazil! This is a Remote – Brazil position, meaning you can work from anywhere within the country. Please note that this role is only open to candidates in Brazil.

Wellhub runs at high scale, on many Kubernetes clusters. Our engineers need logs, metrics, traces and profiles they can trust, at a cost the business can sustain. We build and run this platform ourselves, on open source standards. This is not a "keep the lights on" role. You will help decide how a large platform is built, where it should stay simple, and what we should stop collecting. We value people who question the problem before they design the solution.

What you will work on:

  • A self-service platform. Observability as a Service for the whole engineering organization, balancing performance and cost.
  • Golden Paths. Defaults that let a developer instrument code in minutes and get good signals without operating anything.
  • The platform itself. Kubernetes and AWS foundations that stay reliable when the company grows.

Our stack includes Kubernetes, AWS, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Crossplane, HashiCorp Vault, Kafka, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo and Pyroscope. You will write code in Go, Ruby or Python to build our tools.

Our team does not run services for other teams. We build tools and abstractions so each team can own and run its own services end to end.

Your work will rest on four things: stability, performance, cost and evolution of the platform. In this role you will:

  • Review our current platform with fresh eyes. Say what is wrong, propose better solutions, and help the team evolve them. Your outside view is part of the job.
  • Design and evolve cloud-native platform components on Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Close the gap between complex infrastructure and developer experience. Build the abstractions (defaults, templates, CLIs, operators) that let teams manage their own observability.
  • Find the root cause of cost, reliability and developer-experience problems, and fix it at the platform level.
  • Set standards and guidelines, and write them down through RFCs.
  • Work with the whole team day to day: pair on designs, review proposals and mentor engineers as a technical reference. Our stack is open source and we use AI tools every day, so you can contribute early. Our team learned observability on the job, and anyone on the team can help you.
  • Live the mission: care for your own wellbeing and your colleagues'. Help build a team where people feel safe to take time off and keep a healthy work-life balance.

You have strong cloud and Kubernetes foundations, you like hard platform problems, and you do not need to be an observability expert yet.

You like to remove friction. You want your work to help many engineers. You learn fast, and you tell us what you do not know.

  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem, from running real clusters.
  • Proficiency with AWS (or GCP or Azure) in production. Networking, IAM, cost and failure modes feel familiar.
  • Strong software engineering skills. You write code to remove manual work and to build tools for other engineers.
  • Experience in platform engineering, SRE or infrastructure, in a company where many teams depend on your work.
  • Experience using observability in production (metrics, logs or traces), with any tool. We do not require our exact stack.
  • A habit of questioning the problem before designing the solution. You sometimes fix a problem by removing something: a metric, a service, a step, a rule.
  • The ability to compare real options and choose one with a reason, even when the popular tool is not the best fit.
  • The ability to explain technical trade-offs to different audiences, and to share knowledge.
  • Fluent English and Portuguese, spoken and written.

You may come from platform engineering, SRE or infrastructure; from software engineering with a platform focus; or from a neighboring area such as data, networking or security.
