This job description defines the role of a Registered Behavior Technician. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a credentialed paraprofessional who works one-on-one with students receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to implement their intervention plans. The RBT follows direct guidance of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor.
Main Purposes of Role:
- Collect data about students’ behaviors through direct observation
- Assist BCBA(s) as directed with behavior reduction assessments and skill acquisition plans
To provide intensive behavioral intervention services as outlined in treatment plans to individuals in the Spinnaker program
- Nurture students’ social skills
Key Accountabilities:
Conduct direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior reduction plans as outlined by the BCBA within the Skills Program
Collect and record data on student’s progress accurately and efficiently
Graph data as instructed
Track appointments in Theranest
Participate in regular supervision with BCBA
Meet regularly with Spinnaker staff for training and development
Continue professional development through attending workshops, reviewing professional literature
Abide by the code of ethics detailed in the Guidelines for Responsible Conduct for Behavior Analysts (bacb.com)
Maintain client confidentiality and respect for clients
Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
Personal Specifications:
Required Qualifications
· Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Credential
· Minimum of Associate’s Degree in psychology, education or related field or its equivalent
Experience
· Experience supporting children with a wide range of special needs across a full ability and age range
Skills/ Qualities
· Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
· Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and caregivers
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
· Maintain acceptable attendance record and be punctual
· Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data for effective target setting
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and provide support through coaching
