Maintenance
Help keep HART’s fleet safe, reliable and ready for service. As a Sr. Technician - Bus, you will diagnose complex vehicle issues, complete repairs and preventive maintenance, support Master Technicians, and mentor lower-level technicians. HART will provide training to obtain the required CDL if needed.
- Earn $32.46 per hour under the union contract in a full-time maintenance role.
- Apply your skills to gasoline, diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles and advanced diagnostic systems.
- Share your expertise with other technicians and help improve fleet maintenance practices.
- Receive CDL training from HART if needed to meet the licensing requirement.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Diagnose and repair transit buses, mechanical equipment and automotive vehicles, including gasoline, diesel and alternative-fuel systems.
- →Troubleshoot electronic control modules, emissions systems, high-voltage components and alternative-fuel technologies.
- →Use computerized scanners, oscilloscopes, telematics systems and other diagnostic tools to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- →Perform preventive maintenance inspections to help vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
- →Work with Master Technicians, Foremen, Service Writers and Fleet Managers to resolve recurring failures and improve maintenance processes.
- →Train and mentor Fleet Technicians A and B in diagnostic techniques, proper tool use and maintenance best practices.
- →Follow applicable local, state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA and DOT requirements.
- →Perform emergency roadside repairs and maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs and parts usage.
- →Assist with updates to technical service bulletins, fleet management policies and training materials; perform other related duties as assigned.

- Consistent maintenance. You complete preventive inspections and document repairs and parts accurately.
- Strong teamwork. You support Master Technicians, share knowledge and help other technicians develop their skills.
- Safe performance. You use equipment correctly, follow safety procedures and meet training and attendance requirements.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate.
- A certificate and six months of vocational training.
- Two years of experience servicing, maintaining and repairing varied automotive equipment.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- A Florida Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a Passenger (P) endorsement within the first 90 days of employment. HART will provide CDL training if needed.
- Ability to pass a written competency test and meet established agency training, testing and qualification guidelines.
- A complement of hand tools for maintenance work.

- Knowledge of standard transit servicing and maintenance methods, practices, tools and equipment, including job-related occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely, follow oral and written instructions, and learn and maintain working knowledge of HART technical manuals and procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance when needed.
- Availability for various shifts, hours and days, including overtime, weekends and holidays as needed; ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing and squatting; occasional lifting and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Constant use of hearing, speaking, near and far visual acuity, depth perception and color vision. Visual acuity is necessary to perform all duties.
- Work in all weather conditions, with occasional exposure to shop noise of 85 decibels or higher.
- Exposure to mechanical hazards, fumes, odors, paints and chemical hazards in shop areas.
