Maintenance
Lead maintenance operations for HART’s paratransit and light automotive fleet, keeping vehicles safe, accessible, reliable and ready for service. You will oversee cutaway vans, SUVs, accessible vehicles and non-revenue support vehicles while providing technical and administrative leadership to maintenance teams.
This role connects fleet readiness with dependable transportation for customers with disabilities and seniors. You will direct preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections and warranty management while supporting regulatory compliance and efficient use of resources.

- Lead supervisors, technicians and support staff while developing team skills and accountability.
- Shape fleet maintenance practices through diagnostics, telematics, asset management and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Lead maintenance supervisors, foremen, technicians and service staff; coordinate shifts and schedules, training, mentoring and performance evaluations.
- →Manage daily fleet readiness and direct preventive, corrective and collision repairs, inspections and maintenance campaigns. Oversee lifts, ramps, wheelchair securements, HVAC and safety equipment.
- →Manage labor hours, parts, inventory, procurement and contracted services within the maintenance budget. Oversee vendor contracts, service agreements, warranties and quality standards.
- →Use fleet performance metrics and maintenance data to identify trends, reduce downtime and costs, and improve vehicle reliability, maintenance scheduling and lifecycle planning.
- →Ensure adherence to applicable FTA, FDOT Rule 14-90, ADA, OSHA, environmental and internal agency requirements. Direct safety programs and staff training.
- →Oversee Rule 14-90 inspection protocols, maintenance standards, audits and compliance reports, including vehicle safety, operator qualifications and equipment reliability. Coordinate supporting records with Operations.
- →Maintain accurate maintenance, repair and inspection records; prepare compliance, performance and asset condition reports for stakeholders.
- →Serve as the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) subject matter expert. Oversee implementation, customization and optimization; develop and enforce SOPs for asset tracking, work orders and inventory control.
- →Train and support staff in EAM use and apply EAM analytics, modern diagnostics and telematics to improve maintenance decisions.
- →Partner with Operations, Planning and Finance to align fleet capabilities with agency needs; exchange best practices with other transit agencies and industry stakeholders.
- →Perform other related duties assigned by leadership.

- A bachelor’s degree in automotive technology, business administration or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least 10 years of fleet maintenance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or management role.
- Expertise in fleet maintenance, asset lifecycle management, asset tracking and condition assessments.
- Proficiency in EAM and maintenance management systems, including advanced knowledge of Trapeze EAM and its integration into maintenance workflows.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, procurement and vendor oversight; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, including experience managing large teams, setting goals, training staff and ensuring accountability.
- A valid Florida driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire or moving to Florida.
- Analyze data, identify trends and communicate decisions effectively with staff and stakeholders.
- Use agency computer systems and standard office equipment, including copiers and multi-line telephones, for data entry, word processing and accounting tasks.
- Manage multiple concurrent tasks and frequent interruptions; meet attendance and punctuality requirements and work effectively as a flexible team leader and team member.
- Apply knowledge of agency rules, regulations, procedures and functions; labor agreements; transit routes, schedules and dispatching forms and procedures; transit radio communication; and standard office practices.
- Follow and promote all safety and security procedures.

- Work primarily in an office with regular visits to maintenance shops and bus yards; assignments may also involve street settings, confined spaces, outdoor areas and warehouses.
- Be available for emergency response, including after-hours or weekend work as needed.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend and lift; duties also involve reaching and stooping and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Encounter outdoor conditions, noise, fumes and airborne particles during shop and field visits; occasional exposure may include extreme noise and risks of physical harm.
- May interact with potentially intimidating or unreceptive members of the public.
