At Benevolent Hearts Home Care, we are building a specialized team of caregivers who understand that behaviors are communication.
We provide specialized dementia training focused on creating more positive interactions between clients and caregivers in the home care setting. Our goal is to help caregivers develop the skills and confidence needed to create calmer, more successful interactions with seniors living with dementia.
We're looking for caregivers who are comfortable supporting seniors living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, memory loss, sundowning, wandering, repetition, resistance to care, and other dementia-related behaviors.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one care for seniors living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias
Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal care
Use redirection, validation, and other dementia-friendly communication approaches
Support clients experiencing cognitive and behavioral changes
Provide meaningful engagement, companionship, and cognitive stimulation
Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
Prepare meals and assist with feeding when needed
Provide transportation and accompany clients to appointments and community activities as needed
Monitor changes in condition and communicate concerns to the care team
Follow individualized care plans and safety protocols
Requirements
Minimum one year of verifiable professional caregiving experience with a home care agency, assisted living community, memory care community, rehabilitation center, skilled nursing facility, or similar healthcare setting
Experience supporting clients living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias
Comfortable supporting clients with memory loss, dementia-related behaviors, wandering, sundowning, and resistance to care
Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
Ability to pass a background screening
Weekend availability preferred
Comfortable working in homes with pets
