School nursing gives you the opportunity to combine skilled clinical care with consistency, relationship-building, and meaningful impact.

In this role, you'll provide dedicated nursing care for a student with complex medical needs throughout the school day. You'll use your clinical expertise to provide hands-on care, monitor the student's health, and help ensure they can safely participate in their school environment.

Unlike traditional clinical settings, you'll have the opportunity to know the student, understand their care needs, and become an important part of their school community.

You'll also have the support of HealthBar's clinical team while working closely with school staff and the student's family.

At HealthBar, we believe nurses do their best work when they have the time, support, and resources to provide meaningful care.

As a HealthBar school nurse, you'll have:

  • A consistent Monday–Friday schedule
  • Summers off
  • No nights or weekends
  • The opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with the student you support
  • A collaborative school environment
  • Access to HealthBar's experienced clinical leadership and support
  • The opportunity to use your clinical skills in a different and highly rewarding setting
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • 6.5 hours/day, approx. 32.5 hr/week
  • Summers Off

You'll provide skilled nursing care and support throughout the student's school day, helping them safely participate in their education and school community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing tracheostomy care and frequent suctioning
  • Monitoring and supporting ventilator use
  • Providing wheelchair and mobility support
  • Providing assistance as needed throughout the school day
  • Managing and monitoring a suprapubic catheter
  • Monitoring the student's condition and responding appropriately to changes in their health status
  • Following the student's established care plan and physician-directed orders
  • Supporting the student with school-related activities and requirements
  • Providing nursing support during school transportation and busing
  • Accompanying the student on field trips and other school activities when required
  • Communicating with school staff, family, and the HealthBar clinical team
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Advocating for the student's health, safety, and ability to participate in the school environment

HealthBar partners with schools to provide individualized nursing services that support student health, safety, and educational success.

You'll work as part of the school community while maintaining access to HealthBar's clinical leadership and resources. This collaborative approach allows you to focus on providing high-quality nursing care while building trust with the student, family, teachers, administrators, and other members of the care team.

  • You are an RN who enjoys providing hands-on, individualized care
  • You have experience caring for patients with complex medical needs
  • You are comfortable with tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilator support, and catheter care
