Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Clinic Advanced) - Tucson, AZ

• Location: Tucson, AZ
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday half-day dedicated to administrative work and charting
• Compensation: $130,000–$155,000 per year, depending on experience
• Experience: Five (5)+ years of NP/PA experience in hepatology, gastroenterology, or specialty care preferred; additional experience requirements apply based on specialty background

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a specialty clinical team in Tucson, Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand clinical expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, liver disease, and specialty medicine, while also gaining exposure to clinical research and emerging therapies.

Ideal candidates bring at least five (5) years of experience as an NP or PA in hepatology, gastroenterology, or specialty care and are comfortable evaluating patients, developing diagnoses and treatment plans, and managing patients with an appropriate level of independence.

Candidates whose primary specialty experience is in surgical care or endocrinology should bring at least six (6) years of experience as an NP or PA, including substantial experience seeing and managing patients independently. Physician Assistants should have experience evaluating and diagnosing patients under the guidance and oversight of a supervising physician as appropriate.

• →Hepatology, Gastroenterology, or Specialty Care: Ideal candidates bring at least five (5) years of experience as an NP or PA in hepatology, GI, or another applicable specialty-care environment.
• →Surgical or Endocrinology Background: Candidates should bring at least six (6) years of experience as an NP or PA, including experience seeing patients independently, evaluating clinical presentations, and establishing diagnoses and treatment plans within their scope of practice. Physician Assistants should have experience doing so under the guidance of a supervising physician as applicable.
• →New NP/PA Graduates: May be considered if they bring at least 10 years of prior RN experience in gastroenterology, endocrinology, hepatology, or surgical care.

• →Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, consultations, pretreatment reviews, and follow-up visits.
• →Assess patients, establish diagnoses, and develop appropriate treatment plans within scope of practice.
• →Manage assigned patients and serve as a primary clinical point of contact throughout their care.
• →Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and therapeutic options.
• →Collaborate with physicians regarding complex cases, diagnoses, and treatment decisions.
• →Identify and appropriately refer patients requiring additional specialty evaluation or services.
• →Educate eligible patients about available clinical research and therapeutic trial opportunities.
• →Participate in the care and monitoring of applicable clinical research patients.
• →Perform applicable in-clinic procedures, including FibroScan, once appropriately trained and qualified.
• →Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• →Monitor quality-of-care metrics and contribute to established patient-care standards.
• →Participate in applicable APP call coverage based on training, experience, and departmental needs.

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current or eligible Arizona NP or PA license
• Appropriate national board certification
• Nurse Practitioner candidates must maintain applicable RN and NP licensure
• Physician Assistant candidates must maintain applicable NCCPA certification
• Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients within established scope of practice
• Experience requirements consistent with one of the qualifying pathways outlined above
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with physicians, APPs, clinical staff, and patients
• Ability to complete required GCP and IATA training upon hire
• Valid authorization to work in the United States for any employer

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current or eligible Arizona NP or PA license
• Appropriate national board certification
• Nurse Practitioner candidates must maintain applicable RN and NP licensure
• Physician Assistant candidates must maintain applicable NCCPA certification
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

• NP or PA experience in gastroenterology or hepatology
• Experience caring for patients with liver disease
• Specialty experience in endocrinology or surgical care
• Clinical research or clinical trial exposure
• Experience managing a patient panel with a high level of independence
• Experience performing FibroScan procedures
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills
• Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential
• Interest in pursuing additional specialty certifications and continued professional development

• Have five or more years of APP experience in GI, hepatology, or another applicable specialty.
• Have extensive surgical or endocrinology APP experience and are comfortable independently evaluating and managing patients.
• Are a newly graduated NP or PA with at least 10 years of previous RN experience in GI, endocrinology, hepatology, or surgical care.
• Enjoy managing patients and taking ownership of their ongoing care.
• Want exposure to both traditional specialty care and clinical research.
• Value physician collaboration while maintaining meaningful clinical independence.
• Appreciate a weekday schedule with dedicated Friday time for charting and administrative work.

• Are a new NP or PA graduate without at least 10 years of qualifying RN specialty experience.
• Have limited specialty-care experience and are seeking an entry-level APP position.
