We are seeking a pharmacist licensed in the state of Florida to join our team and play a critical role in advancing our sterile compounding pharmacy initiatives. Reporting to the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), this role will be instrumental in establishing and managing a sterile compounding facility in Florida, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

 

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing and performing sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards, state board regulations, and federal guidelines. This role ensures the safe, accurate, and efficient preparation of customized medications while maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

The Staff Pharmacist works collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, quality assurance personnel, and healthcare providers to deliver patient-specific compounded therapies. This position also plays a key role in workflow management, staff supervision, documentation review, and continuous process improvement within the compounding environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Policy Implementation: Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures that comply with state and federal pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Ensure ISO environment compliance through regular monitoring and quality assurance.
  • Medication Preparation: Compound medications by accurately measuring, mixing, and packaging ingredients according to prescriptions.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise pharmacy technicians to build a high-performing team.
  • Product Development Collaboration: Partner with new product development teams to align the production of sterile compounds with patient demand.
  • Compliance and Updates: Stay up-to-date with regulatory and legal changes, ensuring the pharmacy operates within all guidelines.
  • Healthcare Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal medication therapies.
  • Inventory Management: Process prescriptions, maintain inventory levels, and manage vendor relationships to optimize costs and efficiency.
  • Leadership by Example: Set high standards for work ethic, productivity, and commitment, serving as a role model for the team.
  • Mail Order Delivery: Perform all stages of the prescription fulfillment workflow including data entry, PV1 (first pharmacist verification), dispensing, PV2 (final pharmacist verification), and shipping/packaging to ensure accurate and timely delivery of medications to patients. Monitor workflow to meet production and turnaround time goals, Troubleshoot workflow bottlenecks and escalate issues as needed. 
  • Actively participate and execute in continuous improvement activities autonomously
  • Expand state licensing as needed for the business 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Experience in launching and managing new pharmacy facilities, including construction and vendor management.
  • Experience with facility oversight of sterile compounding operations and maintaining compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards.
  • Background in a fast-growth startup environment.
  • Experience with sterile compounding.

Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, perform repetitive motions, work in temperature-controlled and refrigerated environments, and maintain attention to detail while handling pharmaceutical products in compliance with regulatory requirements.
