We are hiring paramedics to join Carnival's fleet of North American brands, including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Lines, Holland America Lines, Seabourn and P&O Australia.
Paramedics provide high standards of individualized routine and emergency care to guests and crew. They act as first responders, triaging emergency calls, assessing and treating on the scene, and transferring patients to the shipboard medical center for definitive care. Through specific patient group directives, paramedics can practice autonomously under the authority of doctors, assessing patients and providing treatment or advising for particular conditions. In addition to first response duties, paramedics work closely with shipboard nurses and doctors caring for patients and attend daily walk-in clinic hours.
Paramedics also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the medical center's efficient and safe operation under the Senior Nurse's direction and supervision. Additional duties include equipment checks, medication and clinical consumables inventory management, participation in drills, audits, inspections, and training of other crew members. Some technical skills are learned and practiced onboard, such as X-rays acquisition and performing a wide array of laboratory tests and other procedures.
All medical staff provides a high level of customer service, always maintaining a professional, dignified, friendly, assertive, and polite manner and demonstrating performance consistent with the Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization.
Successful candidates will be assigned to work four-month contracts onboard our fleet of cruise ships operating worldwide, with two-month intermissions.
