The BI Developer II position benefits from HSAG’s desire to grow its staff into future leaders in the areas of healthcare data science and quality improvement. Under the direction of the Director of Business Intelligence and other senior DSAA leaders, the BI Developer II position collaborates directly with analysts and data scientists on a wide array of projects that would benefit from the visual display of data in Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, or comparable software.

 

The BI Developer II is a key contributor to cutting edge analytic work that spans the broad spectrum of healthcare data projects at HSAG. For the vast majority of projects, the visual analytic component will be based on Tableau and Amazon QuickSight platforms. Data that will be incorporated into dashboards by the BI Developer II include, but are not limited to:

  • survey
  • case review
  • medical and prescription drug claims
  • eligibility and enrollment
  • clinical (e.g., laboratory)
  • electronic health record
  • vital statistics
  • healthcare registry
  • operational (e.g., financial)
  • facility self-reported
  • Serve as an integral part of HSAG Data Science & Advanced Analytics division.
  • Works in conjunction with staff and customers to define dashboard requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and multi-level dashboards.
  • Design and implement proof of concept solutions and create advanced BI visualizations.
  • Experience working with Ad-hoc Business Objects Web Intelligence Reports.
  • Develop impactful presentations and documents.
  • Design, develop, and automate end-to-end ETL solutions using dynamic SQL to perform file validation, manage staging-to-production pipelines, and process large-scale datasets.
  • Architect and implement complex business rules within the SQL environment to ensure data transformation meets rigorous contract and project specifications.
  • Lead data quality management by developing SQL-based validation frameworks and implementing automated corrective actions to resolve data anomalies.
  • Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data mapping, ETL workflow diagrams, and internal policies that ensure data is secure, accurate, and accessible.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting to corporate staff, HSAG clients, and contractors regarding data gathering, database design, and dissemination activities.
  • Oversee the technical User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process to validate that data loads and system outputs meet customer and budget requirements.
  • Manage the full data project lifecycle, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality data products while adhering to project schedules and contract milestones.
  • Collaborate with other HSAG departments to troubleshoot project activities and provide data support services for complex customer research issues.
  • Stay current on emerging database structures, ETL technologies, and analytic methodologies, communicating relevant advancements to the team to improve internal data infrastructure.
  • Communicate complex topics to team through both written and oral communications.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a quantitative discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least 3 years of experience building visualization solutions using Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, and Power BI.
    • At least three (3) years of experience with ETL processes in a Microsoft SQL server environment.
    • At least three (3) years of data warehousing experience.
    • Experience gathering and refining requirements, interviewing business users to understand and document data requirements is required.
    • Strong attention to detail, documenting business and technical requirement based on user interviews is required.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and SSAS is preferred.
    • Experience working with healthcare data is strongly preferred.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word, and Excel.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and work with multiple teams.
