The ICCT seeks a self-motivated and committed Associate Researcher to contribute to a wide range of work on transport emissions, electrification, alternative fuels, and decarbonisation strategies for the road transport sector, specifically in India. You will report to the Senior Researcher /Program Lead in Delhi.
You Will:
- Support the work around vehicular emissions (exhaust and non-exhaust) in India;
- Support the work on developing policies around advanced vehicle emissions and fuel standards;
- Collect, clean, analyse, and interpret large datasets, and translate findings into clear technical outputs and policy-relevant insights;
- Support in managing projects with diverse partners and take responsibility for successful project delivery of the project;
- Support and co-author high-quality research reports, briefing papers, presentations, and other knowledge products;
- Support in maintaining productive working relationships with academic experts, civil society, industry and government officials in India;
- Support in communicating the work of the ICCT in a clear and effective manner;
- Travel domestically on a regular basis, as required, to support field activities, stakeholder engagement, project implementation, and research dissemination;
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
You Have:
- A master’s degree or PhD in mechanical/automobile engineering, environmental engineering, transport studies, or a related field;
- Minimum two years of full time professional experience in the private sector, academia, civil society or other research setting with a focus on transportation, emissions, environment and/or policy;
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills, including experience with large datasets, analysis, technical writing, and evidence-based policy development;
- Familiarity with vehicle emissions testing or regulatory frameworks which is strongly preferred;
- Strong interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Proficiency with MS Office and with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python);
- Experience working with public agencies, regulatory bodies, testing agencies, or policy stakeholders in India is preferred.

You must be able to connect research to policy and translate technical information to stakeholders. This position will be based in New Delhi. Some domestic (within India) and international travel may be required.
