The RN Ambulatory in Radiation Oncology provides compassionate, patient-centered care through treatment coordination, symptom management, patient education, and triage support for patients receiving radiation therapy at the IU Health Bloomington and Bedford Cancer Radiation Centers. Responsibilities include assessing and educating patients throughout their cancer journey while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams across three treatment units, a CT simulator for treatment planning, and a brachytherapy treatment unit. This Monday through Friday position primarily supports clinic hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with schedule flexibility based on patient census, and serves patients at the IU Health Bloomington Cancer Radiation Center located at 2620 W. Cota Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403, and the IU Health Bedford Cancer Radiation Center located at 9149 SR-37 S, Bedford, IN 47421. Qualifications:

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
