We are looking for another full-time Speech Pathologist to join our team! This work setting is multidisciplinary acute care, where collaboration is a must. We have 22 speech pathologists who support our inpatient adult population. Our team members have a wide range of experience, education, and skills. Ongoing education and skill development are emphasized and encouraged. We are a Trauma 1 academic acute care, so you will see a wide variety of patient diagnosis with opportunity to step outside your comfort zone – learn something new every day!
This individual will evaluate, diagnose, and treat swallowing, speech, language, voice and cognitive-communication difficulties. Recommends discharge disposition to next level of care appropriately. Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment. After administering the appropriate tests and measures, a treatment plan is designed for improved communication and swallowing. Performs direct patient care services including the supervision of support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education, and department operations.
Experience is preferred in the following areas: tracheostomy and speaking valve use, including in-line with a ventilator. MBSImp and MOCA certification are also preferred. Strong candidates will have independence with swallowing instrumental assessments (VFSS, FEES) and previous acute care experience.
This is a full-time salary/exempt position who will work five 8-hour days M-F. Occasional weekend availability is also required.
- Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
- Requires current license in the State of Indiana.
- Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
