.Purpose of the Position: 

IEM is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer (Early Career) (Continuous Improvement Engineer, E1) for our Surrey, B.C. locations and will report into our Senior Manager, Process Engineering. Join our transformation journey as an early-career lean professional supporting kaizen activities, standard work documentation, and data-driven process improvement. This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with a passion for lean manufacturing and a desire to grow in a structured CI environment.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Support kaizen events through data collection, time studies, layout prep, and post-event sustainment
  • Help document standard work, work instructions, and visual management tools
  • Assist in root cause analysis, 5S audits, and daily tier meetings
  • Capture baseline metrics, analyze waste, and support implementation of improvements
  • Participate in lean training and mentorship from senior CI leaders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or equivalent OR technical associate’s degree with practical experience
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization
  • Up to 3 years of experience or internship in manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with lean tools (standard work, 5S, PDCA, takt time) through coursework or project experience
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. 

[Compensation Range: CAD 33.65 - 40.38/hr]
