Assistant/Associate Professor in Quantum Machine Learning - Tenure Track
Quick Summary
Conducting research in your scientific field. Contributing to the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships.
Stephan Clémençon (head of the S²A group) stephan.clemencon@telecom-paris.fr Florence Tupin (head of the IDS department) florence.tupin@telecom-paris.fr Laurent Pautet (the Dean) laurent.

You will hold a prestigious Hi! PARIS Chair, accompanied by an exceptional recruitment package (~300k€) designed to accelerate your scientific ambitions. Télécom Paris is a partner in the Hi! PARIS Cluster 2030 program, an ambitious initiative aimed at building a world-class research and training hub in artificial intelligence and data science. The consortium brings together several leading French institutions, including IP Paris, HEC Paris, INRIA, and the CNRS, with financial support from the France 2030 AI Cluster.
You will conduct interdisciplinary research in statistical learning (theory and algorithms) related to the methodological questions raised by quantum computing. The prospect of harnessing the properties of quantum superposition and entanglement via quantum computers has recently given rise to the field of quantum statistical learning (learning for quantum information processing and quantum computing for learning), which aims to design new types of algorithms and establish solid theoretical foundations for them, and is developing rapidly. The potential offered by quantum technology to explore very large spaces very quickly and to process massive amounts of data opens the door to new paradigms for learning.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Conducting research in your scientific field.
Contributing to the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships.
Participating in the design and implementation of teaching in your scientific field (reduced teaching load).
We are looking for candidates whose work focuses on quantum AI and who can:
designing statistical inference/learning techniques suited to the analysis of quantum information (e.g., structured/functional data, graph models)
developing learning algorithms that leverage the properties of quantum physics (e.g., qubits) for scaling
be proficient in English.
The areas of expertise sought are therefore as follows:
(Quantum) Machine-learning (theory and algorithms)
High-dimensional statistics, structured/functional data
Simulation, stochastic approximation/optimization
Incremental, sequential, active, and reinforcement statistical learning
