Embedded Software Engineer/Developper
Quick Summary
Own the ROS2 nodes for the sensor module, including camera, depth (dToF), and IMU streaming at target rates (approximately 20 Hz for imaging and 1 kHz for inertial data).
Own the ROS2 nodes for the sensor module, including camera, depth (dToF), and IMU streaming at target rates (approximately 20 Hz for imaging and 1 kHz for inertial data).
We are looking for a hands-on ROS2 Robotics Software Engineer to own the software integration between the robotic end effector and its host compute platform. This is a technical, execution-focused role: you will build and maintain the ROS2 nodes that stream sensor data, the GPU-accelerated image processing pipeline, and the data collection infrastructure that the applied science team relies on to train and evaluate manipulation policies. This role operates in a robotics research and development environment where technical requirements are often ambiguous and evolving. You will work directly alongside scientists and research engineers, translating early-stage concepts into reliable, well-instrumented software running on real hardware.
Responsibilities
~3 min read- →Own the ROS2 nodes for the sensor module, including camera, depth (dToF), and IMU streaming at target rates (approximately 20 Hz for imaging and 1 kHz for inertial data).
- →Develop and optimize a GPU-accelerated de-Bayer and image processing pipeline for real-time sensor data.
- →Package and integrate the camera vendor SDK into ROS2 packages for maintainable, reproducible builds.
- →Perform end-to-end latency characterization and validation across the sensing and compute pipeline.
Basic Qualifications:
- →5+ years of software development experience with at least one modern programming language (C++ and/or Python).
- →Hands-on experience developing with ROS2, including authoring and maintaining nodes, topics, services, and launch systems.
- →Experience integrating and streaming real-time sensor data (cameras, depth sensors, IMUs) on robotic or embedded systems.
- →Experience with data pipeline tooling such as rosbag2 for recording, playback, and analysis.
- →Ability to work onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- →Experience with GPU-accelerated image processing (CUDA, de-Bayer, or similar real-time vision pipelines).
- →Experience deploying software on embedded GPU compute platforms (such as NVIDIA Jetson class devices).
- →Experience with ROS1 to ROS2 migration, DDS, and QoS tuning for real-time performance.
- →Experience packaging and integrating third-party or vendor SDKs into a robotics software stack.
- →Experience supporting applied science or research teams with data collection and policy interface infrastructure.
- →Experience with end-to-end latency analysis and optimization across sensing and compute pipelines.
