Under the overall direction of the Director, Coordinating Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta and Representative to the Holy See, and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the intern will assist with the daily activities of the Facilitated Migration and Vulnerable Groups Unit, in accordance with the IOM policy and procedures.
Familiarizing with EU funded projects, their implementation, evaluation, monitoring and reporting;
Mapping policies, practices and tools, complementary pathways and resettlement programmes in Europe and beyond;
Familiarizing with pre-departure orientation (PDO) training materials both for refugees, asylum seekers, migrant workers and trainers by getting acquainted with IOM policies and tools in this field;
Identifying the main elements of possible training materials for both refugee/asylum seekers and trainers by getting acquainted with IOM policies and tools in the field of Unit projects;
Carrying out research activities and collection of information relevant for the implementation of projects’ activities, as may be necessary;
Creating contents dedicated to specific projects to be shared through IOM’s communication tools;
Attending internal and external meetings related to IOM and Unit’s projects related activities;
Performing such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
- Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Have graduated with one of the above university degrees and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
- Previous experience in the development and or implementation of EU Funded projects an advantage;
- Previous experience in the field of migration would be considered an advantage.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with data and documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
For this internship, working knowledge of English and French (both oral and written) and proficiency in Italian (both oral and written) is required.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Responsibilities
~2 min readDepending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
