Position Description
The Senior Field Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all self-performed construction operations across assigned projects. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership for self-perform labor, materials, equipment, safety, quality, and productivity, while ensuring work is executed in alignment with project budgets and schedules. The Senior Field Operations Manager partners closely with Project Management and Field Leadership to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality construction outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all self-perform field operations, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents and company standards
- Champion jobsite safety by enforcing safety programs, conducting regular field observations, and holding teams accountable to corporate and regulatory requirements
- Oversee labor productivity, cost performance, and reporting for self-performed work, including monitoring labor production metrics and implementing corrective actions as needed
- Coordinate self-perform activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, and other stakeholders to support schedule adherence and project objectives
- Plan, allocate, and optimize labor, materials, tools, and equipment to maximize efficiency and reduce cost impacts
- Implement and enforce quality control standards for self-perform work, conducting inspections and addressing deficiencies proactively
- Supervise, mentor, and develop self-perform field staff, including site supervisors and skilled trades, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Identify potential operational risks and field challenges and implement solutions to minimize disruptions and delays
- Prepare and present field operations updates, including progress, productivity, and cost performance, to senior leadership

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction with a focus on self-performed trade or craft work
- Prior experience as a Self-Perform Manager, Superintendent, or Construction Supervisor
- Hands-on experience in construction trades (e.g., carpentry, masonry, concrete, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling principles
- Working knowledge of cost reporting and labor production tracking
- OSHA 10
Preferred Experience (includes, but is not limited to):
- OSHA 30 certification
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore and HH2
- Spanish language proficiency
- Experience managing tools, equipment programs, and material coordination for self-perform teams
- Experience supporting large or complex commercial construction projects
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing field leadership staff

- Ability to work outdoors in varying Caribbean weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and sun exposure
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods
- Ability to navigate active construction sites with changing ground conditions and elevations
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment as required
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for this position is one component of J. Benton Construction’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s skills, experience, education, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
