Strong emphasis is placed on survivor-centered, culturally sensitive, and ethical storytelling.
This is a remote U.S. opportunity, with a hybrid arrangement available for candidates based in the Washington, DC area.

Develop and operationalize messaging strategies that connect program evidence, organizational priorities, brand positioning, and audience needs.

Lead mass-audience positioning for programs addressing forced labor and human trafficking, violence against women and children, online sexual exploitation of children, and police abuse of power.

Translate complex program models, evidence, data, and technical concepts into accessible, accurate, and compelling external communications.

Develop and maintain key messages, messaging frameworks, narrative guidance, message architecture, and authoritative content that can be adapted across audiences, platforms, and campaigns.

Lead end-to-end messaging development for priority program areas, ensuring alignment with evidence, strategy, audience expectations, and brand standards.

Facilitate working sessions that define communications challenges, clarify audience priorities, and align cross-functional stakeholders around messaging direction.

Build scalable content systems that allow core programmatic messages to be adapted for different audiences and channels without losing consistency or accuracy.

Collaborate with program, regional, marketing, fundraising, and media teams to promote consistent adoption of approved messaging.

Use audience insights, partner feedback, and content performance data to refine communications strategies and improve engagement.

Apply survivor-centered, dignified, culturally sensitive, and ethical storytelling principles when communicating about violence, exploitation, casework, and lived experiences.

Provide strategic and editorial counsel on message hierarchy, audience relevance, cultural context, content quality, and ethical communications.

Develop practical tools, guidance, and repeatable resources that strengthen communications capabilities across teams.

Contribute to a collaborative community focused on professional development, shared purpose, and spiritual formation.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, writing, marketing, journalism, English, nonprofit management, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing communications, campaign communications, content strategy, brand messaging, or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience developing messaging for diverse audiences, including mass audiences, major donors, institutional partners, media, and senior leaders.

Strong experience collaborating across cultures and functions with program specialists, regional teams, communications professionals, and senior leadership.

Proven ability to develop strategic messaging architecture, repeatable frameworks, narrative guidance, and reusable content assets.

Advanced writing, editing, and editorial judgment, with an ability to communicate complex subjects clearly and compellingly.

Experience developing mass-audience marketing communications in international development or a similarly complex global context is strongly preferred.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal awareness and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Strong global and cultural awareness, including sensitivity to diverse audiences and contexts.

Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, solve problems creatively, and adapt to changing needs.

Collaborative, flexible, and service-oriented approach to working with cross-functional partners.

Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and the ability to participate meaningfully in a faith-based organizational environment and spiritual formation activities.
