The Engineering Manager will lead and develop a team of software engineers while helping shape technical strategy, delivery, and operational excellence. This role combines people leadership with strong technical direction, ensuring teams build scalable, reliable, and customer-focused software solutions. You will work closely with Product, Design, QA, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into effective engineering plans. The position also offers the opportunity to strengthen development practices, incorporate AI-driven software development, and improve engineering efficiency. You will play an important role in hiring, team development, production readiness, and long-term technology planning. This is a fully remote leadership opportunity suited to an experienced engineering manager who thrives in collaborative, distributed environments.

Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers through coaching, performance management, career planning, regular feedback, and employee engagement initiatives.
Partner with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
Provide technical leadership on architecture, system design, scalability, security, development practices, and engineering standards.
Drive planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution throughout the full software development lifecycle.
Incorporate AI-driven software development practices to support engineering department goals and improve development efficiency.
Establish and maintain development processes, code review standards, testing strategies, operational procedures, and engineering best practices.
Help teams identify and resolve complex technical challenges, remove blockers, and facilitate sound engineering decisions.
Monitor team health, delivery performance, and engineering effectiveness while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Lead hiring, workforce planning, onboarding, and team expansion efforts to build high-performing engineering organizations.
Collaborate effectively across distributed teams, functions, and time zones to maintain strong communication and alignment.
Act as an escalation point for critical production issues, coordinating incident response, root cause analysis, and resolution efforts.
Establish operational readiness practices, including support models, on-call processes, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to long-term technology strategy and roadmap planning, balancing immediate business priorities with scalability and innovation.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in engineering management, technical leadership, or team leadership.
Proven experience leading engineering teams through the delivery of complex software products and initiatives.
Strong background in software architecture, system design, and modern software development methodologies.
Demonstrated experience managing engineers through hiring, performance reviews, coaching, career development, and engagement.
Ability to collaborate closely with Product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and practical delivery plans.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing technical and business decisions across multiple stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical quality, business priorities, and delivery timelines.
Experience supporting production environments, incident management, and operational excellence practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to build strong team culture, establish accountability, and develop high-performing engineering organizations.
Experience leading distributed or remote engineering teams is preferred.
Experience with cloud-based SaaS platforms and modern software development practices is preferred.
Experience applying AI-driven software development practices is preferred.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and observability is preferred.
Experience working with mission-critical or customer-facing software environments is preferred.
Exposure to mobile, web, and/or platform engineering teams is a plus.
Experience evaluating technology investments, architectural tradeoffs, and build-versus-buy decisions is preferred.
