This is a player-coach leadership role overseeing the engineering team responsible for customer-facing web, mobile, and product experiences.
You will establish the people-management and delivery practices needed to support a rapidly scaling engineering organization.
The role combines hands-on technical leadership with ownership of hiring, onboarding, performance, development, and team growth.
You will guide delivery across a real-time web trading terminal, website and product applications, mobile experiences, and QA.
You will also introduce strong engineering standards around code reviews, documentation, architecture, testing, and AI-assisted development.
Working closely with backend and platform teams, you will remove delivery blockers and strengthen cross-functional execution.
The role is based in Chennai and requires an in-person presence, with opportunities to help shape a growing international engineering team.

Own the complete people-management lifecycle, including onboarding, 30-60-90 day plans, training, career development, performance reviews, promotions, and offboarding.
Establish clear goals, KPIs, expectations, and regular one-on-one practices that support accountability, growth, and strong team engagement.
Own delivery workflows across the web trading terminal, website and product monorepo, mobile application, and QA function, ensuring disciplined prioritization and predictable releases.
Build and implement engineering processes covering code reviews, TypeScript and coding standards, architecture documentation, onboarding materials, and delivery practices.
Establish rigorous verification standards for AI-assisted code to ensure quality, reliability, maintainability, and appropriate engineering oversight before deployment.
Manage dependencies with backend and core platform teams, including API contracts, SDK branches and releases, and cross-team communication.
Lead hiring for client engineering roles and grow the team from approximately six engineers toward a larger organization, including distributed international contributors.
Remain technically engaged for approximately 30–50% of the role by reviewing complex frontend code, contributing to architecture decisions, setting technical standards, and personally unblocking challenging engineering problems.
Support continuous improvement across development quality, delivery predictability, onboarding effectiveness, documentation, and engineering productivity.

Requirements

3–5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of approximately 8 or more engineers, with direct ownership of hiring, onboarding, performance management, promotions, and exits.
8–12+ years of overall software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in React and TypeScript and the ability to conduct credible technical reviews of complex frontend systems.
Proven experience shipping high-performance, consumer-facing web and/or mobile products at scale, with a strong understanding of reliability, usability, performance, and production delivery.
Demonstrated experience establishing engineering processes from the ground up, including onboarding documentation, performance frameworks, coding standards, code-review practices, and technical workflows.
Strong player-coach mindset and willingness to remain technically involved rather than moving exclusively into people management.
Experience working with modern frontend architectures and applications, ideally including React-based systems and complex client-side products.
Strong leadership, communication, coaching, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to balance people development, technical quality, delivery commitments, and cross-team dependencies in a fast-scaling environment.
Nice-to-have experience with React Native and mobile release management, QA or test-automation ownership, Canvas/WebGL/WebSocket-heavy applications, monorepo tooling such as Nx, and distributed international teams.
Experience in trading, fintech, brokerage, or market-data products is beneficial but not required.
Experience combining practices from both mature engineering organizations and startups or rapidly scaling companies is an advantage.
Ability and willingness to work in person from the Chennai office.
