This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on highly critical systems powering sportsbook wagering, grading, casino transactions, financial records, and regulatory controls. You will design and scale high-performance APIs and services where accuracy, resilience, and reliability are essential. The role combines hands-on software development with architecture, production performance optimization, and technical leadership. You will work across modern, legacy, internal, and third-party systems while solving complex integration and data challenges. Collaboration spans multiple business domains and engineering teams in an agile environment. The position also offers opportunities to mentor engineers and influence technical direction across business-critical platforms.

Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries supporting wagering, grading, financial ledgers, responsible gaming, taxation, regulatory enforcement, promotions, and risk management.
Own highly complex technical problems, develop solution proposals, and present designs to leadership and partner teams for feedback and alignment.
Design, architect, and deliver new features end-to-end within a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment.
Identify production bottlenecks, performance risks, reliability issues, and scalability constraints, then drive improvements across the platform.
Establish and refine monitoring and alerting with Datadog for owned systems and services.
Investigate and remediate production performance regressions involving CPU, I/O, memory, latency, and other high-throughput system constraints.
Mentor engineers through technical specifications, pairing, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.
Work with stakeholders across diverse business domains to deliver reliable products, operational improvements, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
Bridge internal, third-party, legacy, and modern systems through integrations, data migrations, data translation, and supporting infrastructure.

At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong computer science foundation, including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design.
Proven experience working with production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, performance analysis, and identifying areas for improvement.
Experience with production on-call rotations and ownership of software release cycles from end to end.
Strong software craftsmanship principles and a focus on clean, maintainable architecture.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience creating technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documentation.
Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.js.
At least 2 years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for products serving multiple clients such as iOS, Android, and web.
Experience building multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and client-specific configuration.
Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL, including normalization, denormalization, and performance-versus-flexibility tradeoffs.
Experience with Kubernetes and operating services in containerized environments.
Comfortable working with terminal-based tools, Git, GitHub or similar platforms, and modern development environments.
Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
Experience with background job processing technologies such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
Experience with asynchronous event-processing infrastructure such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
Experience with agentic software development tools, agentic workflows, and validating the quality of agent-generated outputs is a strong asset.
Experience building financial, legal, or process-accounting systems where correctness, traceability, and auditability are critical.
Experience with Elixir, hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Development, open-source contributions, or startup environments is a plus.
Interest in or experience with sports and/or esports is a plus.
