This position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center.
Responsibilities
~1 min readThe successful candidate will join the Engineering team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
All safety policies and procedures must be followed.
- →Independent preparation of requirements, computation/analyses, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports for Process System designs. Selects and applies engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity. Projects are A/E multi-discipline.
- →Oversight of the activities of designers and drafters engaged in the design of NASA facility mechanical systems, to ensure the designs conform to recognized codes and standards and with customer requirements for a variety of government and industrial facility types.
- →Provide technical quality reviews and ensure adherence to Quality Control processes, Codes and Standards, ultimately resulting in the Highest Quality deliverables to NASA Langley.

Requirements
~1 min read- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses is preferred, plus four (4) years of related engineering experience with some expertise in formulating data for presentation. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids. Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solutions.
- Perform electrical power/controls design assignments and work from the designs of others.
- Compile data, perform elementary design computations, prepare estimates (design and construction), prepare designs in electrical facilities and utilities power distribution, lighting, fire alarm system, telephone and communication plans, controls schematics and interconnection diagrams, wiring diagrams, consult manufacturers, evaluate materials, write/edit specifications, provide professional electrical power /controls engineering support within allocated task resources, and work under supervision.
- AutoCAD experience in release 2024 or better and REVIT experience in release 2024 is required.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code is preferred.
Work Environment:Office environment. (80%)
Facilities and active construction site environment. (20%)
Travel between office and various facilities within the NASA center is required.
Physical Requirements:Limited time spent on active construction sites. Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces (20%). Construction sites are commonly areas of high noise levels due to construction equipment and facility test operations (20%). Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (20%).
