Position Overview
J.R. & Co., Inc. is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Specialist to own all inbound and outbound material flow at our Kansas City warehouse. You’ll receive and check every delivery against its BOL and keep project teams updated on what’s arrived. You’ll also coordinate loads so materials reach jobsites on time. Essential Functions

  • Coordinate daily and weekly material receipts and outbound shipments for the KC warehouse
  • Unload and inspect incoming materials, and check them against BOLs and packing lists for damage, missing items, or incorrect quantities
  • Report variances to vendors and project stakeholders, and reject or return damaged materials using approved procedures
  • Track material status from pending through staged, delayed, on hold, or completed
  • Keep Superintendents, Project Managers, and leadership informed about material receipts, issues, and quality concerns
  • Partner with the Warehouse Manager on material staging, labeling, storage, and readiness for fabrication
  • Coordinate load building with warehouse teams so jobsite deliveries go out on time
  • Support approved inventory tracking and process improvements, and keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret BOLs, pick tickets, and packing lists
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including comfort updating project teams and leadership
  • Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and inventory or project-management software
  • Experience with material handling, production scheduling, or field/shop coordination preferred


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
  • Forklift operating experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record


Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Warehouse environment with exposure to seasonal temperatures, noise, and moving equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing throughout the shift
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or after-hours when urgent production or delivery needs come up
