The Senior Software Engineer supports Department of Defense (DoD) programs by designing, developing, securing, and maintaining mission-critical software solutions built on the Microsoft development ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in C#, .NET, SQL Server, JavaScript/EXT JS, and modern web development practices, along with disciplined engineering methods suitable for classified or sensitive environments. Experience integrating Kiro AI technologies is strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong adherence to security, compliance, and documentation standards required in defense contracting. This position is remote-based with a team on the East Coast. Eastern time zone applicants are preferred. There is a possibility for occasional travel for meetings at government facilities.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain additional program-specific accesses (e.g., SAP, CI polygraph) if required
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract restrictions
- US Citizen
- Eligible for a government-issued Secret-level clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Expert proficiency in C#, .NET, Visual Studio, and Microsoft development tools.
- Strong experience with SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and advanced T-SQL scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to build complex front-end applications using JavaScript and EXT JS.
- Experience developing software in compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, STIGs, secure coding).
Responsibilities

- →Design and implement secure software solutions using C#, .NET Framework/.NET Core, asp.NET and Visual Studio.
- →Develop responsive front-end interfaces using JavaScript, EXT JS, HTML5, and CSS3.
- →Build secure RESTful APIs, services, and modular components aligned with DoD cybersecurity and architecture standards.
- →Database Engineering
- →Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases in controlled environments.
- →Develop advanced T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and performance-tuned queries.
- →Implement secure database schemas, access controls, auditing, and backup/recovery strategies compliant with DoD requirements.
- →Secure Software Development
- →Apply DoD Secure Coding Guidelines, STIGs, and RMF controls throughout the development lifecycle.
- →Participate in code reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
- →Produce high-quality documentation suitable for configuration management, accreditation packages, and government audits.
- →AI & Emerging Technologies
- →Integrate Kiro AI capabilities into enterprise or mission-support applications.
- →Collaborate with data science teams to embed AI-driven features while maintaining security and compliance constraints.
- →Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- →Work closely with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, systems engineering, QA, and program management.
- →Support deployment, testing, and sustainment activities within classified or controlled environments.
