The Training & Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining high standards of employee performance by providing comprehensive training during onboarding and throughout employment. This position works closely with company leadership and department heads to identify training and development needs, create and deliver training programs, evaluate employee performance, and ensure employees understand and follow company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.

The position also supports compliance monitoring, audits, policy development, and corrective action initiatives while helping ensure business operations remain aligned with company standards and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • →Evaluate employee and training program performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • →Provide effective coaching and constructive feedback to employees and leaders.
  • →Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, business, compliance, and company information.
  • →Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain training programs and curriculum for new-hire orientation, onboarding, and ongoing employee development.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of training programs and workshops and make modifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with managers and department leaders to identify training needs and schedule appropriate training sessions.
  • Develop methods to monitor employee performance and ensure responsibilities are performed according to established training and procedures.
  • Track and document training attendance, completion, evaluations, and performance results.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to new employees throughout the onboarding and training process.
  • Conduct evaluations to identify areas requiring additional training or improvement.
  • Work with internal and external carrier representatives to identify training requirements and coordinate training sessions.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, individual training sessions, and other educational programs.
  • Create and distribute training materials, including presentations, module summaries, videos, job aids, and other educational resources.
  • Monitor employee performance and response to training. Training assessments may include pass/fail requirements during onboarding to determine an employee’s readiness and suitability for the role.
  • Stay current on insurance industry standards, carrier requirements, product updates, and applicable training requirements.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using meaningful metrics, surveys, NPS, and other feedback tools.
  • Maintain and monitor training-related budgets and resources.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Assist with compliance inquiries, complaints, audits, reviews, investigations, and change requests.
  • Assist in developing and implementing compliance monitoring and auditing strategies related to provider complaints, government program directives, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with required regulatory deliverables and reporting requirements.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Provide guidance to departments and employees regarding compliance requirements and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Escalate potential violations or compliance concerns to appropriate leadership and authorized agencies when required.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure business operations are consistent with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist leadership with evaluating operational risks and developing or updating policies and procedures.
  • Create, modify, update, and assist with implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance documentation, reporting, and monitoring activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Insurance industry and/or compliance experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Strong data entry and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite:
    • Outlook – Intermediate
    • Word – Intermediate
    • Excel – Intermediate to Advanced
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and the ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to provide effective coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, professional, and energetic attitude.
