Help design the next generation of professional security systems protecting millions of buildings and businesses worldwide.
As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will take ownership of critical firmware components across connected security products, including wired and wireless devices, secure connectivity, cloud integration, and EN50131 compliant solutions. You will influence product architecture, technical strategy, cybersecurity implementation, and development practices while mentoring engineers and helping shape future product platforms.
Responsibilities
Lead architectural decisions for critical firmware components and influence hardware design, communication protocols, cybersecurity implementation, and system-level design.
Design and develop firmware for embedded devices using both bare-metal and RTOS-based architectures.
Define integration strategies between security devices, gateways, cloud services, and platform ecosystems.
Drive embedded software quality through code reviews, design reviews, debugging, and engineering best practices.
Drive platform-oriented development by creating reusable firmware components and promoting common solutions across multiple products.
Support verification, validation, certification, manufacturing, and production-readiness activities.
Collaborate with Product Management, Hardware, Compliance, QA, and Cybersecurity teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Mentor firmware engineers and contribute to technical development within the team.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, architecture specifications, and development guidelines.
Work with global engineering teams to ensure consistent technical direction and successful product delivery.
Technology Stack
Embedded C
ARM Cortex-M (STM32, TI MSPM0 or similar)
FreeRTOS and bare-metal development
Git
Bamboo / Bitbucket / Jira / Confluence
SWD / JTAG debuggers
Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers
RS485, Ethernet, TCP/IP, sub-GHz wireless communication
Secure Boot and FOTA update mechanisms
Cryptography fundamentals
CI/CD for embedded systems
Must Have
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience developing firmware in C for embedded systems.
Strong experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
Practical experience with FreeRTOS and bare-metal development.
Strong understanding of embedded system architecture and real-time software design.
Experience developing low power and battery powered systems.
Experience designing efficient, scalable embedded communication protocols and device communication systems.
Experience debugging complex embedded systems using debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers.
Strong Git workflow knowledge and code review practices.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Nice to Have
Experience with wireless communication systems (Sub-GHz, LoRa, BLE, proprietary RF protocols).
Knowledge of CRA.
Knowledge of wireless regulations and standards, (e.g. ETSI EN 300 220, RED)
Knowledge of EN50131 or security industry standards.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers.

Individuals may also be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company performance. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience in relation to the job requirements.
