GIS Professional (Entry Level)

A GIS professional with a Bachelor of Science in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or closely related field and at least 2 years' relevant experience.

Knowledgeable: Experience in GIS methodologies, analytical techniques, principles of data management, and maintaining data accuracy and integrity through quality assurance and quality control processes, with the ability to apply these skills to projects. Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online required, knowledge of open-source technologies such as QGIS, R, and Python is a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook software. Knowledge of state and federal regulatory processes and the ability to apply this knowledge to projects is preferred but not required.

Experienced: Ability to prioritize and complete several assignments often with tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality results with supervision. Ability to work independently on discrete tasks, show flexibility on project teams to complete a diverse range of tasks, and communicate verbally and in written form with staff regarding tasks and expectations. Highly detail‑oriented, thorough, and committed to routinely checking work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project goals.

Customer Service Mindset: Demonstrates a proactive customer service mindset by anticipating manager needs, supporting project teams, and ensuring timely communication. Seeks guidance and mentoring from peers and senior employees related to tasks as needed. Owns technical development by seeking projects, relationships, and education that support firm and individual development. Consistently prioritizes responsiveness and effective problem-solving in a consulting environment.

This position provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to apply their experience and technical knowledge to a range of projects related to the hydropower industry while collaborating with our team of scientists, regulatory professionals, and engineers. Specific duties for this position may include:

• Develop high‑quality cartographic products for presentations, reports, and other communications
• Implement effective data management strategies to ensure organized retrieval, tracking, and submission of project data
• Digitize spatial data for analysis, visualization, and mapping
• Prepare clear and comprehensive metadata to document work products
• Conduct assigned QA/QC tasks in alignment with our quality management system
• Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, and peers to support successful project execution
