As a DSP at L’Arche Erie, you will support adults with disabilities in daily tasks, fostering a home of trust, care, and mutual growth.

o Ability to work cooperatively and constructively as part of a team
o Ability to take responsibility for health and safety of others
o Ability to work with individuals of different religious affiliation, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to fulfill a flexible schedule, including weekends
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. and transfer individuals
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- High School diploma or equivalent
Duties and responsibilities (training is provided):
- Supports individuals with disabilities in:
o Personal care needs (clothing, hygiene, eating, etc.), money management, medical care, appointments, family and work connections, household chores, laundry, medications, meal preparation, transportation
o Track individuals’ goals, support plans and outcomes; documenting information as needed
o Communicating and self-advocating effectively with doctors and other professionals
- Participates on a team, including sharing responsibility for:
o Household maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, cleaning, meal prep, property upkeep, shopping, and household financial management
o Scheduled routines
o Regularly scheduled meetings
- Builds a relationship of mutual care and support with people with disabilities
- Observes the rights and personal dignity of others
- Fosters a home life of unity, mutual respect, and participation by all members
- Learns and implements the policies and procedures of L’Arche
- Assists in the implementation of Individualized Support Plans and adheres to state regulations
- Communicates and advocates effectively with doctors and other professionals
- Participates in the functions and life of the community
- Completes other duties as assigned
Schedules are based on the needs of the individuals and their homes. Flexibility of schedule is required.
