Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist in Wokingham on behalf of its client to assess, review, and support the housing adaptation needs of vulnerable adults and children. This role aligns with the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and aims to promote independence, safety, and wellbeing through a strengths-based and personalised approach.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional assessments to determine eligibility and recommend appropriate housing adaptations
  • Provide advice, guidance, and access to support services based on assessed needs
  • Promote accessible environments, with working knowledge of building regulations, Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) legislation, and local housing policies
  • Assess and order basic equipment/adaptations following major works, and provide training on their use
  • Undertake manual handling risk assessments, develop risk management plans, and support positive risk enablement
  • Collaborate with individuals, carers, families, and stakeholders to gather information and identify best-fit solutions
  • Participate in DFG panel meetings, presenting detailed reports and recommendations
  • Monitor and review outcomes to ensure quality assurance and customer satisfaction
  • Promote the use of assistive technology, including Telecare, to maximise independence
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic case records in line with GDPR and council procedures
  • Share good practice and provide specialist housing OT knowledge to colleagues and customers
  • Support policy development and ensure referral routes follow best practice
  • Uphold professional standards and maintain HCPC registration and continuous professional development

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience in housing adaptations, DFG assessments, and working with vulnerable individuals
  • Knowledge of building regulations, manual handling, and assistive technology
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
