Job Summary: The Clinical Pharmacist-Inpt is responsible for analyzing, dispensing, compounding, monitoring, and recommending appropriate pharmaceutical care for patients of all ages. Work is accomplished in accordance with the policies and regulations of local, state and federal authorities as well as accepted standards of practice. Assists in the training and education of new pharmacists, technicians, students, and residents. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Graduate from a school of pharmacy accredited by American Council of Pharmaceutical Education with Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) required. PharmD is required if Pharmacist is assigned to work in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). Minimum one year of post-graduate hospital experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; use computer for data input, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Ability to maintain good public relations skills. Ability to interact positively with broad range of co-workers. Promotes teamwork. Able to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Maintains a positive professional attitude and demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills. Willingness to supervise subordinates. Analytical skills, prioritization and time management skills. Think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
Licensures and Certifications: Registered and licensed Pharmacist by the State of California required.
