The Traffic Control Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that performs tasks to manage highway traffic conditions in an integrated manner in order to assure safe traffic flow, maintaining safety for all. The ideal candidate is familiar has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Check to ensure that the worksite is safe
- →Set up temporary physical diverters or traffic barriers
- →Direct construction vehicles when they need to enter the roadway
- →Direct and slow down traffic using hand signals and signs to indicate the rules to drivers
- →Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- →Practices awareness of others working alongside the paving crews and machines, exercising safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
- →Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned, organized, and stored to company standards.
- →Signal foremen and construction crew to facilitate flow and movement of traffic.
- →Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- →Perform other duties as requested and assigned
Requirements

- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
- Entry Level Position
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Flagger certified
- Must possess a valid driver's license and clean MVR, as use of Company assigned vehicles may be required to move and transport equipment.
- Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
- Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Proper PPE is required at all times.
