At Lucid, we are redefining the future of luxury electric mobility. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Lead Field Quality Technician to provide technical leadership for vehicle investigations, advanced diagnostics, root cause analysis, corrective action validation, and field quality improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines deep automotive and electric vehicle expertise with strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. This role will guide the daily technical work of Field Quality Technicians, coordinate complex vehicle investigations, maintain high standards for safety and documentation, and serve as a key technical link between Field Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, Warranty, and Program teams.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Provide day-to-day technical direction, coaching, and task coordination for Field Quality Technicians supporting vehicle investigations and validation activities.
- Prioritize assignments based on customer impact, safety, business urgency, vehicle availability, and investigation needs.
- Coordinate vehicle, parts, tools, equipment, and technician readiness for planned investigations.
- Review technical work for completeness, accuracy, quality, safety, and adherence to approved procedures.
- Escalate technical risks, resource constraints, and investigation blockers to Field Quality leadership.
- Support onboarding, technical development, and knowledge sharing across the technician team.
- Lead advanced diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and upgrades of Lucid vehicles and engineering test vehicles.
- Lead complex investigations across electrical, powertrain, chassis, body, thermal, infotainment, connectivity, and software-related systems.
- Direct concern replication, failure analysis, vehicle inspection, component removal, evidence preservation, and root cause support activities.
- Analyze diagnostic data, vehicle logs, fault codes, electrical measurements, communication networks, and physical evidence.
- Ensure investigation findings, conclusions, open questions, and recommended next steps are documented and communicated clearly.
- Partner with Field Quality Engineers to plan and execute structured root cause investigations of vehicle and component failures.
- Lead hands-on validation of containment actions, permanent corrective actions, engineering changes, repair procedures, and software releases.
- Coordinate support for campaigns, containment initiatives, fleet monitoring, launch activities, and escalated field concerns.
- Conduct and oversee road tests and functional evaluations to reproduce concerns and confirm repair effectiveness.
- Provide timely, evidence-based technical input during cross-functional issue reviews.
- Promote consistent diagnostic methods, standard work, accurate work orders, data traceability, and high-quality technical documentation.
- Ensure safe operation of hand tools, power tools, torque equipment, lifting devices, diagnostic equipment, and high-voltage systems.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment, including test equipment, special tools, removed components, and parts inventory.
- Protect the confidentiality of vehicle testing, procedures, engineering information, customer information, and proprietary data.
- Identify opportunities to improve investigation efficiency, service diagnostics, repair methods, and team capability.
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for technician-level investigation planning and execution.
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, Warranty, Program, and management teams.
- Communicate technical status, risks, findings, and support needs in a concise and actionable manner.
- Demonstrate ownership, sound judgment, urgency, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset.
Requirements
~2 min read- High School Diploma or GED.
- Automotive technician degree, certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Seven years of automotive diagnostics, repair, quality, testing, or technical investigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical work, coordinating shop or investigation activities, mentoring technicians, or serving as a senior technical resource.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems, diagnostic methodologies, and structured problem solving.
- Experience diagnosing complex concerns using scan tools, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, breakout equipment, and related diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle architecture, including High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems and EV powertrains.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, service information, engineering drawings, technical procedures, and diagnostic data.
- Strong planning, organization, analytical thinking, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and learn proprietary diagnostic and engineering software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate vehicles for evaluation purposes.
- ASE certification; ASE Master Technician certification is highly desirable.
- EPA Section 609 certification.
- Previous OEM Master Technician certification.
- Extensive experience with electric vehicle diagnosis and repair.
- Working knowledge of CAN bus, automotive Ethernet, vehicle communication protocols, data logging, and software troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting engineering investigations, vehicle testing, launch, warranty, campaigns, or field quality activities.
- Experience training or mentoring automotive technicians.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Forklift certification.
- Guide the technician team to execute safe, disciplined, and timely investigations.
- Rapidly diagnose and coordinate resolution of complex vehicle concerns.
- Provide complete and reliable technical evidence that supports engineering decisions.
- Improve the consistency and quality of investigation documentation and validation work.
- Help reduce repeat repairs, warranty exposure, vehicle downtime, and customer disruption.
- Build technician capability through coaching, standard work, and knowledge sharing.

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.
