As a Product Designer, you will join the Global Design System team and contribute to the evolution of Manulife's digital experiences. Working closely with designers, product teams, developers, researchers, and accessibility specialists, you will help design and maintain scalable, accessible, and user-centered experiences across our enterprise design system. This role offers hands-on experience in product design, visual design, design systems, accessibility, service design, and digital product development.


Responsibilities

  • →Support the creation, refinement, and maintenance of reusable design system components and patterns.
  • →Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and visual designs for digital experiences across web and mobile platforms.
  • →Collaborate with product designers, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders to solve user and business challenges through thoughtful design solutions.
  • →Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the design system by improving component flexibility, consistency, and usability.
  • →Maintain and update design documentation, guidelines, naming conventions, and best practices.
  • →Help ensure designs meet accessibility standards and promote inclusive user experiences.
  • →Participate in design critiques, collaborative workshops, and cross-functional team discussions.
  • →Contribute to research, journey mapping, and other user-centered design activities when required.
  • →Partner with designers and accessibility specialists to identify and address accessibility considerations, helping ensure digital experiences meet inclusive design and accessibility best practices.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Product Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Global Business & Digital Arts, Systems Design, or a related discipline.
  • Students in Inclusive Design, Digital Accessibility, Accessibility Studies, or related programs are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience using Figma to create digital experiences, prototypes, and design assets.
  • Strong visual design skills with a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies. Knowledge of inclusive design principles and accessibility-focused design practices is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • A portfolio showcasing design projects, digital products, visual design work, or UX/UI case studies.

  • Experience working with design systems, component libraries, or enterprise-scale digital products.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG and AODA.
  • Experience applying accessibility standards in digital products, conducting accessibility reviews, or participating in accessibility-focused projects.
  • Experience with user research, usability testing, customer journey mapping, or service design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with design strategy and human-centered design approaches.
  • Exposure to Agile or Scrum product development environments.
  • Academic or practical experience in Inclusive Design, Digital Accessibility, Accessibility Studies, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience through co-op, internship, academic, research, or professional projects involving digital product design, accessibility, or design systems.
