About Us
- Maybell Quantum is redefining the future of computing. As a venture-backed quantum hardware innovator experiencing rapid growth, we're building technology that will transform industries for decades to come. Quantum computers will be as transformative to the next 30 years as the internet was to the last 30. Our team is creating the hardware foundation to make this revolution possible.
- Maybell Quantum is establishing its first operations facility in Singapore, and we are seeking a Plant Manager to build and run the production operation inside it. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role: you will lay out and qualify the production lines, hire and develop the production and quality team, and take the line from first-article build to repeatable, on-schedule output. Reporting to the General Manager, Singapore, you will own manufacturing execution at the site — output, yield, cost per unit, and shop-floor safety — while the GM owns the facility, the entity, and the regional supply base. You will work closely with our US manufacturing organization to transfer proven processes and hold both sites to a single build standard.
- What You'll Do
- As Plant Manager, you will own manufacturing execution at Maybell's Singapore site across four workstreams:
- Production Standup & Ramp
- Lay Out the Line: Design the production and test layout within the facility, specify tooling, fixtures, and equipment, and drive installation and qualification alongside the GM's build-out plan.
- Transfer the Process: Execute the transfer of manufacturing, test, and inspection processes from our US site, qualifying the Singapore line against global build standards.
- Build to First Article: Lead first-article build and validation of Maybell's dilution refrigerators, closing out findings before ramp.
- Ramp to Rate: Take the line from first article to sustained rate production, improving cycle time, yield, and labor efficiency at each step.
- Daily Production Operations
- Own Output: Hold accountability for on-time delivery, yield, throughput, and cost per unit against the site plan.
- Run the Schedule: Build and manage aggressive production schedules, balancing capacity, material availability, and labor across the floor.
- Manage Materials at the Line: Own shop-floor inventory accuracy, kitting, and consumption, and flag supply risk early to the GM and regional sourcing.
- Document the Work: Develop and maintain work instructions, routings, and production documentation for a newly trained workforce.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Build the Production Team: Hire, onboard, and develop production engineers, technicians, and supervisors as the site scales from the first hire onward.
- Train for Complex Assembly: Establish training, certification, and skills matrices for hands-on assembly of complex cryogenic hardware.
- Lead from the Floor: Set daily and weekly operating rhythm — shift handoffs, production meetings, escalation paths — and stay hands-on with the hardware.
- Partner Globally: Work directly with the US manufacturing and engineering teams on build standards, tooling, and DFM feedback.
- Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Execute Quality at the Line: Implement inspection plans, nonconformance handling, and traceability, and own first-pass yield and escape rate.
- Own Shop-Floor Safety: Enforce safe work practices and site EHS procedures on the floor, in line with the GM's site-level EHS and regulatory framework.
- Drive Improvement: Lead continuous improvement across safety, quality, cost, and throughput, using structured problem solving and lean methods.
- Improve the Product: Feed manufacturing and field learnings back to engineering to improve system design and manufacturability.
Who You Are
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or an equivalent technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment building complex physical hardware.
- 5+ years leading a production line, value stream, or manufacturing department, including managing supervisors or team leads.
- Demonstrated experience ramping a new line, product, or production area from first build to rate production.
- Hands-on assembly, fabrication, and troubleshooting skills, with the credibility to work alongside technicians on the hardware.
- Working knowledge of Singapore workplace safety and health requirements and local manufacturing labor practices.
- Track record of hiring and training a production workforce from a small base.
- Strong CAD and mechanical design skills, including tooling and fixture design.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently across time zones.
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and drives results personally and through the team.
- Willingness to travel internationally, including extended time at Maybell's US facility during process transfer and ramp.
Preferred:
- Experience in quantum computing, scientific instrumentation, cryogenics, or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience in any of the following: vacuum systems, leak checking, thermal systems, brazing, welding, valves, pumps, pneumatics.
- Experience operating within a Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001), including audit and certification support.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent operational excellence certification.
- Machine shop and fabrication capability.
- Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup, or as part of a US-headquartered global operation.
What We Offer
