MeDirect is a Maltese digital bank, founded in 2004, with over 160,000 clients and operations in Malta and Belgium. We offer a wide range of financial services to both retail and corporate clients, including daily banking, savings and corporate services.

We are always on the lookout for determined and hard-working individuals who are eager to take the next step in their career. At MeDirect, we strive to provide an exceptional employment experience, fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a technically accomplished and strategically minded Head of Regulatory Reporting to lead the MeDirect Bank’s regulatory reporting function at a pivotal moment in our evolution. As a Significant Institution under direct ECB supervision, with a Joint Supervisory Team comprising the ECB, NBB and MFSA, the quality and rigour of our regulatory reporting is a cornerstone of supervisory confidence and of the Board’s ability to steer the business.

We are looking for a leader who combines deep expertise in EBA reporting frameworks – COREP (including key modules such as Own Funds, LCR and NSFR) and FINREP — with the commercial acumen to interpret and communicate regulatory data as a strategic asset. You will own the function end-to-end: from on-time, accurate submissions, to building a future-ready, automated reporting infrastructure capable of keeping pace with Basel IV / CRR3 and the growing granularity demands of the SSM. You will also oversee other critical reporting streams, including SRB reporting and local regulatory submissions to the CBM and NBB.

This is a high-visibility senior role with direct access to C-suite and Board’s Audit and Risk Committees, meaningful engagement with the JST and external auditors, and real scope to shape how a growing digital bank navigates an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Own the timely, accurate and complete production and submission of all prudential regulatory reports - COREP, FINREP, SRB and ad-hoc ECB / MFSA / NBB information requests - at both solo and consolidated (MDB Group) levels
  • Lead the Bank’s regulatory reporting function with full accountability for the completeness, accuracy and on-time delivery of all supervisory returns across solo and consolidated perimeters
  • Oversee RWA calculation and validation under the Basel IV / CRR3 framework, ensuring methodology is sound, well-documented and defensible to the JST
  • Maintain and continuously improve data quality controls, reconciliation processes and attestation procedures to eliminate material misstatements before submission
  • Continuously evolve a robust regulatory reporting framework underpinned by comprehensive policy documentation, end-to-end procedural guides and a well-evidenced control environment that meets JST and internal audit expectations
  • Accelerate automation and tooling initiatives to reduce manual intervention, improve efficiency and strengthen the control environment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Joint Supervisory Team, MFSA and NBB on all regulatory reporting matters, including data quality reviews, targeted on-site inspections and follow-up queries
  • Act as the dedicated regulatory reporting interface
for the shareholder on all regulatory reporting matters, ensuring timely and transparent communication of key prudential metrics, supervisory developments and any material reporting changes that may affect the Group's consolidated position
  • Direct the assessment and implementation of new and amended regulatory reporting requirements (such as EBA ITS updates, CRR3, IREF) and translate them into changes across systems, processes and controls
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Technology and the Belgian entity to ensure end-to-end data lineage, consistent interpretation of reporting standards and coherent cross-border reporting
  • Provide technical advisory support to senior management, ALCO, ERMC and the Board on regulatory capital, liquidity metrics and the reporting implications of strategic decisions
  • Keep the function current through active engagement with EBA consultations, ECB guidance notes, SSM supervisory priorities and industry working groups

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing regulatory reporting team, fostering a culture of ownership, accuracy and continuous learning
  • Drive the delivery of the multi-year roadmap for the regulatory reporting function, aligning infrastructure investment with the Group’s growth strategy and Basel IV / CRR3 obligations
  • Maintain a robust governance framework for regulatory reporting, including policies, procedures, RACI and escalation protocols that satisfy JST expectations
  • Act as a senior voice in cross-functional forums on topics spanning capital adequacy, liquidity management, ICAAP / ILAAP and SREP, ensuring reporting insights inform strategic planning
  • Represent MeDirect in industry bodies and regulatory forums where appropriate, contributing to the Group’s external profile on reporting matters
  • Champion a proactive regulatory horizon-scanning capability that provides early warning of material reporting changes and their business impact

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Degree-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline; professional qualification (CFA, ACA, ACCA) is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of regulatory reporting experience within a Eurozone bank, supervisor or Big 4 firm, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading reporting infrastructure or automation improvement programmes.
  • Proven leadership presence to inspire a team, people management capabilities and collaborative partnership
  • Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory data into clear, actionable insight for senior stakeholders.
  • Exposure to managing cross-border or multi-entity reporting in a banking group structure is advantageous.
  • Experience in regulatory reporting platforms (e.g. Wolters Kluwer OSX / OneSumX, Axiom SL) and advanced data analysis tools (SQL, Power BI or equivalent) would be an asset

Personal Attributes:

  • Technically rigorous: You take pride in strong attention to detail and set the same high standard for your team
  • Credible under scrutiny: Comfortable presenting to regulators, board committees, and auditors; you rely on evidence rather than assertion
  • Pragmatic problem-solver: Able to turn complex regulatory requirements into clear, workable solutions without compromising compliance
  • Collaborative leader: Build trust across Finance, Risk, Technology, and the business, bridging technical and commercial discussions effectively
  • Proactively curious: Actively follow EBA consultations, ECB speeches, and SSM priorities out of genuine interest in the evolving landscape
  • Calm under deadline pressure: Stay composed during quarterly cycles and ad-hoc requests, consistently delivering quality on time
  • Growth mindset: Motivated by the opportunity to build and modernise a function in a forward-looking, investing bank
